Day 1 October 30th

Our journey began with Dave & Harmony coming over to see us off and make sure we had everything set. They had been so helpful the last few days, helping us clean and pack and making us take some time to get some food the night before we left. They took us to this wonderful Italian restaurant in Newport, KY. Of course they couldn't believe all that we had gotten in our vehicles. Nate didn't even think I could fit it all in...

I am my Mother's Daughter :)

Then with everything loaded, Nate locked the door to our first home together for the last time and we said goodbye to some great friends

Views from the road Day 1

Our journey led us down US 42 to Louisville and it was beautiful. We stopped at this little road side produce market and had some wonderful apples. Nothing like fresh apples. Mmmmmm
From Louisville we took I64 to St Louis Missouri. We saw the beautiful Arch and then started looking for our next turn off to head to the Lake of the Ozarks State Park. We had a few wrong turns and eventually got on the correct road Highway 50. It was starting to get dark and we were very tired as we had been so busy leading up to this trip. We decided not to go the extra 2 hours and ended up staying at this nice place called Meramec State Park near Sullivan, MO. Mia did not want to eat that night. She was so stressed. But the park was wonderful, and there were a lot of people there. We were surprised. The tent, although our first time putting it up, was fairly easy...even in the dark. :) Yay for REI tents! We took the dogs for a few walks, played part of a game of Phase 10 and went to bed...ready to head out in the morning.
