House Hunting Part 2

There are probably going to be many parts to this house hunt. Of course there are many parts to our job hunts as well. It's starting to get really frustrating to not have a job. I'm glad that I'm doing school or I think I would really lose my mind.
Back to the focus of this...
Last Sunday we saw 9 houses. Some were really cute, some were really, really bad. One house I went in and said that it should just be bulldozed and be done with it. Saw a cute farmhouse, but way to expensive. Saw a really fun house that we would love if it wasn't on such a busy road. We worry about if the dogs get out what kind of street they'd be on. Kali has already proven herself to be a houdini and get out without our knowing it. It's a valid concern. We saw another house with mold, one that was cute but way too small. Some others that just weren't right. We just haven't found that one yet.
We have also started debating buying land and trying to build a house. Not sure completely about that one. It involves a lot more time and some other factors I'm just not sure I am ready to deal with...
So that is where we are....

House Hunting

Nate and I have begun the wonderful journey called "The House Hunt"
This is exciting and frustrating all at the same time. As we have been living with Nate's parents and realized how long we have been partaking of their kindness, our goals for what that house will be have changed. I think we've become more realistic. Houses are way more expensive here than in Kentucky. We can't get as much house for our money unless we go way out in the boonies...
We went last weekend and checked 3 in Renton, we only went into 2. What an experience. We are looking at lower end of the price range and so see many foreclosures, bank owned, etc...
1st house-pictures were beautiful, very hopeful that it would be cute. Knew there was writing on the walls from previous owners, but all that takes is paint. Well, this house had settling problems and has a brick front, so difficult to hoist up to redo the footings, 2nd had roof problems and possible water intrusion, 3rd problem, no garage for Nate's toys. :) Yes, we need a garage.
2nd house- we don't even go into. Walk up to the front, hear gushing water, look below the house where there was a hole and a pipe had a hole in it and water was happily coming out of it. Don't need to deal with bad plumbing...plus the porch looked half rotted and other weird looks to the way they added onto the house.
3rd house, little more hopeful, but no dice. No garage, better layout, but water intrusion and MOLD! GROSS!!!
We have picked out 9 more properties in Renton, Issaquah, and the Kirkland/Bothell areas. We go to see those this weekend. Wish us luck...

I know...I've been bad on this...

So, a lot has happened since my last post. I know that I need to finish the trip updates, if not for everyone else at least for myself and Nate. It is nice to have a record of our trip.
We arrived in WA the day of the big snowstorm before Thanksgiving. What a day! I will post about it.
Nate and I decided that since we weren't having luck finding jobs, that we would go back to school seeing as how Nate only had 20 credits left to graduate and I needed to fix some grades so I could go back for my bachelors degree. Funny thing, the classes I needed to fix are some of the ones Nate needed to graduate. History, Meteorology and Psychology. We enjoy 2 of the classes and don't really enjoy the history class as our professor is a bit of a ping pong ball. He jumps all over the place and is less than coherent.
I finally got a job interview of sorts on Wednesday 2-9-11 at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. They hold an information session about their new graduate positions and then have a mini interview afterward. I feel pretty good about it. If they liked me, I will hear within another week or so whether I'm selected for a longer more formal interview. We really need me to get this job. It is the first bite since I got my licensure and started looking. For a field that needs lots of help, they don't want to help out the new graduates.
We have started our search for our own house. We have been living with Nate's parents which is nice, but we do miss our own space. I know the dogs miss all of our furniture that they are allowed on. We are not entirely specific on where we want to live...still in debate. We just know that we want a big yard for the puppies and that this is our temporary home. We will live there for a bit until we get resettled and in a better financial state and then we will look for a more forever us home.
We plan on going to the home show next week and getting some ideas. Looking forward to that. Life is crazy as always in our world, but we are plugging along.
Nate still needs to find employment as well. He's still looking in the IT field, Systems Administration is his area. Hopefully jobs will come for us soon. For now, that's all I know. Night all.
